Cristiano Ronaldo made more history on Wednesday night by becoming the first player to score 100 goals in European competition with a double in Real Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final first leg win against Bayern Munich.
Ronaldo is now bearing down on becoming the first player to score 100 Champions League goals.
The Portuguese has now scored 82 goals in 84 appearances in the Champions League for Madrid.
He also netted 15 in the competition and one in a qualifier for Manchester United prior to moving to the Spanish capital in 2009. And he scored twice in his only previous appearance in the UEFA Super Cup as Madrid defeated Sevilla 2-0 in 2014.
His nearest rival Lionel Messi has 97 European goals, 94 of which have come in the Champions League, and is the top scorer in this season’s competition with 11.
